Despite the recent drama between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj on the set of American Idol, Carey looked carefree as she enjoyed Family Day at the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Nick Cannon hosted the event, where the couple walked along the pier, toting cotton candy, rode a roller coaster and interacted with fans.
Wearing a curve-hugging red dress, Carey, 42, posed for photos with 18-month-old twins Monroe and Moroccan.
Monroe – whose white glasses matched her dress – and Moroccan played with balloons as photographers snapped away.

Nick Cannon: I Want My Kids to Grow Up Helping Others
Nick Cannon knows that his kids with Mariah Carey have a good life — and he want to make sure they appreciate it.
“I want my kids to understand that every child isn’t as fortunate as they are,” the America’s Got Talent host tells PEOPLE of 17-month-old twins Monroe and Moroccan.
“I want [them] to grow up helping others. I was raised by my grandmother. We were low-income, but she was always taking in foster kids. She would help anyone, and it was a good lesson for me growing up.”
Cannon, 31, was in Orlando on Friday to host the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals‘ Awards Dinner. At the event, he mingled with children ages 3 to 17 who are fighting diseases or recovering from traumatic injuries.
“I really believe in this charity, in this event,” he says. “It’s our duty to help kids who need it.” Cannon was also on-hand to announce a collaboration between Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Kuboo.com, a 3D Virtual World for kids.
Sitting in his hotel room with PEOPLE before the event, Cannon points to a laptop with a missing key.
“My son was playing with it and he broke it,” he says with a laugh. “My kids are already attracted to technology. They want to touch it; they’re always reaching for it. They love my iPad. That’s their generation; they love computers. So it’ll be important as they grow older to know what they’re doing online, to keep them safe.”
It has been a rough year for Cannon. After suffering from kidney failure and blood clots in his lungs last winter, he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called lupus nephritis. Through medication and diet, things are now under control — except for one thing.
“I just had four root canals within the last 24 hours; other than that, I’m doing really well,” he says. “In fact, I couldn’t have dental work while I was having my health problems because of blood issues. So it’s great that I could finally get the work done. Once my teeth heal up, I’ll be in great shape!”

Monroe and Moroccan Turn One – In Paris!
Nick Cannon certainly didn’t disappoint when he told PEOPLE that he and wife Mariah Carey were planning “something special” for the first birthday of their twins Moroccan and Monroe.
Taking their little ones on a getaway to Paris, several close friends accompanied them to the Plaza Athénée on Sunday, where Cannon — in typical festive fashion — made sure a good time was had by all.
The momentous occasion was complete with custom-made French pastries, lots of balloons, toys and confetti.

Nick Cannon: We’re Doing Something ‘Special’ For Twins’ Birthday
My, how time flies.
It seems like just yesterday that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon were rejoicing over the arrival of #dembabies — and now, with twins Moroccan Scott and Monroe‘s first birthday just over a week away, the power couple is celebrating once again.
“It’s amazing. It goes by so fast.” Cannon, 31, told reporters at NBCUniversal‘s Press Day Wednesday at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena, Calif.
Cannon is staying mum on specific details surrounding the momentous occasion on April 30, but he does promise that the day will be one to remember.
“We’re going away,” he tells PEOPLE. “We’re taking a break. It’s going to be exciting. We’re doing something special and something unique.”
In only a year’s time, Cannon and Carey, 43, have already witnessed many milestones associated with their children. “They’re trying to walk and I’m nervous because they’re at that age when anything can happen,” the America’s Got Talent host explains.
“My son has this thing where he loves banging his head and crushing stuff. Something new is happening every day.”
And Cannon has something else to celebrate — having his health back! — following his January hospitalization and diagnosis of a Lupus-like autoimmune disease.
“I feel better than I’ve ever been. I’m in the best shape that I’ve ever been in,” he says. “Since this whole thing has happened, I haven’t had any salt, red meat, fast food. [I've only had] chicken and fish. I feel so great. I’m juicing a lot.”
